50-hour Postnatal YogaTeacher Training

Overview

This postnatal yoga teacher training (in English) teaches you how to hold space for the transition from maiden to mother or from mother of x children to more. You’ll learn how to hold space and share space with women in a very vulnerable and open time of their lives after they’ve just gone through the biggest bodily and emotional change in the shortest amount of time together with the chaos of birth. This training will give you insights into a more feminine approach to yoga, which can be integrated with other styles of yoga too, whilst guiding you to teach new mothers in confidence.

We’ll explore and dive deep into the postnatal hormones, nervous system, womb yoga, womb awareness, womb stories, holding space for both processed and unprocessed birth stories, sharing circles, and yoga with babies. All this mixed with sequencing, spaceholding, and how to create a postnatal yoga class in a blend of theory lectures, circle sharing, and practical learning. Each weekend you will receive inspirational practice examples of postnatal yoga classes & you will be teaching and sharing your knowledge with each other from the first weekend onwards.

What you will learn

  • Understanding the postpartum body, the postpartum hormones & postpartum nervous system

  • Sequencing postnatal yoga classes with and without babies

  • Learning about the mothering culture, social construction of motherhood, the wounded mother & postpartum myths

  • Breast/Bottle feeding practices and meditations

  • The anatomy of the pelvis, pelvic bowl (floor) & pelvic organs after birth

  • About back or pelvic problems & other common physical challenges in postpartum and how to support

  • How to support bodily autonomy in motherhood

  • How to support mothers to trust their intuition, their inner knowing, and their inherent mother wisdom

Who would benefit from this training?

This training is for yoga teachers. Whether you are self-taught or hold certification is to me not important. It is important that you understand the basics of yoga as a whole (asana, meditation, pranayama etc.) for this training to benefit you in your teachings and self-practice. The training is connected with the prenatal training and they are designed to supplement each other, however you are so welcome to join even if you don't take the prenatal YTT.

Space-holders

This training is led by Ida Kilias, a yoga teacher and birth keeper with over 1,000 hours of training in yoga and yoga therapy. She has studied with inspiring teachers dedicated to protecting birth and continues to deepen her knowledge in the fields of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. She has been training prenatal yoga teachers since 2020 (this year will be the 6th group), has authored research articles on emotional pregnancy, and is currently teaching women’s yoga, prenatal yoga, and postnatal yoga in Copenhagen.

Deeply passionate about women’s health, birth, and motherhood, Ida envisions a more woman- and human-centered approach to our current birthing culture. Gathering in circles of women and doing this work is her act of activism—supporting a better, more supported rite of passage and culture around becoming a mother.
